Give Back Their Names

Give Back Their Names is an effort to restore dignity to those buried without identity in institutional cemeteries. Tens of thousands of people – many of them Veterans – lie in numbered or unmarked graves, their names withheld by law and their families denied the right to know where they rest.
We are working to change these laws so the forgotten can be identified, remembered, and honored, and so Veterans receive the recognition they earned. No one should lose their identity, their name, or their place in history simply because the law allows it.
URGENT: This legislation is now in the Mental Health Committees of the NYS Senate and Assembly. Please contact the bill’s sponsors and ask that they request that it be moved to the Senate or Assembly floor. Also, contact your state representative requesting support. Thank You!
